Textiles

One of my first immersions in color, pattern, and texture came from fabric. My mother would take me to fabric shops (she sewed) and also was a member of a mail-order club, and swatches would come in the mail. I LOVE fabric!!

I’ve designed textiles for commercial use, and studied dyeing and fabric painting extensively. Recently I’ve discovered Spoonflower, an online site where you can create textile, wallpaper and wrapping paper designs, and I’ll be playing with their tools again soon.

Click the dropdown menu above to see pages about tie die and shibori, and more. The little “bolts of fabric” shown here are actually polymer clay miniatures that were made for a Barbie doll sized fabric store. Many artists from around the world contributed.
